Founder

Extremisphere is led by Lisa McInerney, an internationally recognised expert in online violent extremism and digital threat response. With almost two decades of work focused on online behaviours linked to violent extremism and terrorism—including roles in research, enforcement policy, and strategic advisory—Lisa brings deep insight into the cross-platform dynamics of violent movements and the practical realities of responding to them.

Previously, Lisa served as Twitter’s Global Policy Area Lead for Violent Organizations, where she led the team responsible for crisis response and for policies related to violent organisations. She also designed interventions to proactively address manifestations of violent extremism and terrorism on the platform. Before this, she was Programme Manager for VOX-Pol, a European Commission-funded Network of Excellence dedicated to the study of violent online political extremism.

Lisa’s expertise has been sought globally, with contributions to the United Nations, European Commission, and the OSCE, among others. Her work bridges rigorous research and real-world practice, anchoring Extremisphere’s services in both strategic depth and hands–on relevance.
